Just Say No to the War on Drugs by poasterchild Just Say No to the War on Drugs by poasterchild

The War on Drugs has been a success for expanding the domestic security apparatus in the United States, but it has been a TRILLION DOLLAR FAILURE for the rest of us. See: [link], [link], and [link].

Addendum:

Maybe I better explain this one. Nancy Reagan popularized the slogan "just say no to drugs" when she was first lady and took a public role in the war on drugs. Earlier, during the anti-Vietnam war movement, the slogan, "girls say yes to boys who say no" [link] became popular. So, this poaster is a play on those two memes, and makes the sexist, but funny, assertion that men who are politically active against the war on drugs are more attractive to women than those who are not. Amazing how too much analysis can take the humor out of something, isn't it?

The message is clear, the art is excellent and the war is all about money.

The State is generating greater control over our lives all the time. The 'War' in the UK at the moment is against Welfare (Benefit) Scroungers. The majority of Benefit recepiants are the elderly and/or the Diasabled. The Elderly have paid taxes and National Insurance all their working lives. Now, there is a ' Spare Bedroom Tax' being introduced for Welfare recipients in Social Housing. They are called Scroungers, the 'Minium Wage' is being frozen while 'Millionaires and the Rich' are being given 'Tax Reductions'.
There is a Military base near the Town where I live, parents who have sons and daughters serving abroad (whatever your views on pointless and illegal wars). There parents are being told that they have to 'downsize' or pay extra money for the 'spare room'. They may have lived most of their adult lives in this house, but will have to pay or move.
Recently, a Marine committed suicide at the 'Cliffs'. he left a wife and young family, he had recieved no support for PTSD. Often these men and women, having completed a tour of duty are being made redundant. Often, the reason the joined up was because there was no alternative, unless they wanted to be unemployed (and have their benifits cut, capped or frozen. Successive British Governments have used this 'policy' for many years, but this government (Tory) is really trying to create a divisive society by constant propaganda. As you say, we are paying Billions on their 'Wars' against anything that takes their fancy.

Would it make more sense to you if it said "say no to the war on terror"?

Not quite sure of your point, but it's a very nice recreation of the old '40's poster vibe.
