and the soldier certainly doesn t see that much money a year
instead the money is spent to put him in situations where he can die for our boards of directors

the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag

No, of course soldiers don't get paid a mil a year. That's an thoughtful estimate of what it costs to keep an American soldier deployed for one year in Afghanistan.

General Smedley Darlington Butler was no doubt one of the greatest ever produced by the United States Marine Corps.

And the military has been trying to make cuts, yet the people that control the purse strings, Congress, won't let them.

Used to cost something like 4 people per soldier to keep them in the field supplied and fed, but that was medieval times. Inflation and technology have increased that figure exponentially. Even if it were only the money, it takes 125 people, by your figures to keep that man supplied, in the field and fed. That's not counting the support staff and non-coms deployed with them.

by the way, that's only if all $8000 were to go to the military, I only did that to make an easy figure. Not living in america, I don't know how much of your taxes actually go to military.

And as for anti-war songs, try War Pigs by Ozzy Osbourne. That was actually an excellent piece of anti-war propaganda. Iron Maiden has some pearls too, if you think of, say, For The Greater Good Of God, The Legacy, and The Longest Day.
