Perhaps a few words of explanation are in order.

Michigan has one of the highest unemployment rates in the United States -- 8.5% as of April. The national average is 8.1% and only 10 states have a higher unemployment rate than does Michigan.

In addition, Republicans in the Michigan Legislature have proposed a harsh new set of restrictions on abortion, including making them illegal after 20 weeks gestation, and imposing new requirements on abortion providers -- including making them provide facilities equal to those found in outpatient surgery centers, even if the clinical in question does not provide surgical abortions -- that the Michigan American Civil Liberties Union calls this proposed law the "greatest assault on reproductive rights" in Michigan's history. Abortion rights groups in the state say this law, often referred to as "targeted regulation of abortion providers" (or TRAP), would likely shut down all abortion providers in the state. Other provisions of the bill require a doctor to be physically present to dispense abortion drugs (which would basically outlaw the use of telemedicine abortions).

Unfortunately, Republicans hold commanding majorities in both the Michigan House and Senate.

God has nothing to do with it! But religion rears its ugly head in this instance when they dare to dictate their beliefs on the American public as a whole!

Well, that's the problem, isn't it? No one cares what you believe, or shouldn't care anyway. But, when you try to impose your own religious views on others through the repressive means of the State, that's exactly what the Founders were concerned about. Don't like abortion? Fine, don't have one. Don't like gay people? Fine, don't have gay friends. But, when you use the State, and its monopoly on violence and the power to deprive people of their liberty, that's a BIG problem.

I'm not particularly immersed in american politics, but it's the same shit everywhere, the conservatives wear little boxes on their heads and are mortally afraid of people having control of their own lives. Hail jesus...or any other monotheistic fuck.

Now, now. You can't tar every believer with that brush. Many Christians hold very liberal views on these matters. So do those of other faiths, and those of no faith whatsoever. Moreover, it's got nothing to do with monotheism per se. For example, I come from an unusual religious heritage -- Jewish, and Sioux Indian. Both are monotheistic. Some Jews are extremely anti-woman, and claim a religious basis for those misogynistic beliefs. Other Jews are strongly pro-choice, and similarly claim a religious basis for their beliefs. The people commonly called Sioux are also, despite claims to the contrary by people who don't understand our religion, monotheists, but I've never encountered a traditional Sioux who denigrated women, because in our way, we revere a sacred woman as the messenger of the Creator, and revere the Earth Mother as well.

So, what it comes down to is this: people who support the equality of women are where you find them; it has nothing to do with their religious beliefs, or lack of them. It is what it is, and wherever it is, it should be confronted on that basis alone, not on the basis of what that person says he or she believes about the Divinity, or the absence thereof.

Please don't tell me about jews. I'm from israel. I'm 100% jew, and 100% sick of them and their caveman beliefs.

Also please don't try to deny the iron-hard ties between religion and misogynism. Religion is the social structure which originated at the times when women were a slightly less valuable livestock than horses, and as much as we try to paint it positive and liberal, it's not. Some will try and twist their religious beliefs to suit modern society because they do realize how outdated and monstrous their holy books are, but in the core, religion is the source of all evil. As much as we'd all want to deny it, the social order of trusting a bogeyman in the sky is, for a modern civilization, a shameful relic.

Because they want to pin their disaster on Obama in the hopes that he'll lose the election because the voters have short memories about who got us into this mess to begin with.

Thanks.

What does Clinton's support for financial deregulation have to do with nearly unanimous Republican support for restrictions on freedom of choice? I am definitely not a partisan Democrat, but let's not muddy up the issue at hand. In any event, if you want to argue about this stuff, do it elsewhere. As per my Policy Statement [link] I don't permit that in my gallery. Any more of this will result in an immediate an permanent ban, without notice. This is not an invitation to further discussion. Thanks.

Perhaps the the individuals in question should have weighed the possibilities more seriously before conception. There is really no such thing as an accidental pregnancy; it all boils down to ignorance of the ultimate outcome and disregard for the well-being of society as a whole. Human beings are intelligent enough to consider the act of procreation in terms of both their individual well-being and its impact on society as a whole. Conception is much more than quick, short-term self gratification.

Saying there is no such thing as an accidental pregnancy is like saying that women can't get pregnant if they are raped. Both are untrue. Women can become pregnant if they had been raped and they can also become pregnant even if they are taking all the precautions they can. Sometimes things just don't work. Like a condom breaks or her birth control doesn't work cause she took an antibiotic anything is possible.

Birth control fails. And when it does, that leaves, yes, an accidental pregnancy.

You know, if that's YOUR morality, fine. Apply it to yourself. But when you apply it to others, you impose your religious/moral views on others, and when backed by the power of the State, that's violence.

Thanks for ignoring my polite request (there was a link directly below the graphic to my Policy Statement) not to post opposing views in my gallery. Just like on the abortion issue, you troglodytes feel you have the right to impose your views on me and others in MY gallery, despite being asked not to do so. You're welcome to state your reactionary ideas in your gallery, but not in mine. I don't post my views in your gallery, do I? Why do you feel you have the right to invade my space -- and women's wombs for that matter -- and post unwanted opinions in mine?

And by the way, there most certainly are accidental pregnancies; they happen every day. Condoms break, IUDs fail, pills don't always work, and neither does the rhythm method.

One thing for sure -- you're a tight-assed asshole who has never once in his entire pathetic life simply fucked for fun. And if ever there was a man who desperately needed a blow job, it's you, pal. So fuck off. :banned:
